Subscription versus your own API key
This compares two ways of working the same way — in an IDE or CLI, where BYOK tools make a direct API key a real option. It is not a claim that subscriptions are cheaper than the API in general.

Usage terms
Quoted from the vendor's own terms. We do not give legal advice.
The Bundled Subscription Terms make team seats subject to "Teams Terms", the X Subscription Grok and Cursor Addenda, which apply only to teams existing "as at October 7, 2026"; no terms for a newly formed team were found. The Consumer Terms contain no clause authorizing programmatic access: "Our Enterprise Terms of Service govern the use of our Services for developers and businesses, for example SpaceXSI APIs and PromptIDE," and they bar users from "(viii) harvest, scrape, or extract data from the Service". Grok API usage "is billed separately at standard model rates and doesn't draw from your plan's usage pool." Read as: the terms do not explicitly authorize it.
